Prisms

Prisms are transparent optical elements with flat polished surfaces at precisely controlled angles to each other. They are used to invert, rotate, deviate or displace a beam, or break light up unto its constituent spectral colors. Photonchina supplies a variety of prisms for imaging, telecommunication, biomedical applications as well as others.

More than decades ago, Photonchina has begun focusing on a wide variety of high precision prism manufacturing with stringent specifications for angle, surface quality, flatness, transmitted wavefront, dimension, clear aperture and optical coating performance. Our current capabilities include Roof prism,Right angle prism, Penta prism, Rhomboid prism, Dove prism,Wedge prism, Anarmophic prism,Pellin-Broca prism etc. and corner cubes. We possess the process technology, tooling, know-how and metrology to consistently deliver superior performing prismatic optics. Substrate material can be chosen from all optical glasses (N-BK7, for instance), Fused Silica, Si, ZnSe, ZnS, CaF2, MgF2 etc.

In addition to standard prism products, highly-specialized optical systems often require components that cannot be classified under the standard prism types. Unusual prism shapes, angles/beam paths, thin film coatings, or chamfers and other features may bring into question the manufacturability of the optical components.

Custom precision prism manufacturing is one of the core services in Photonchina.

Since the founding of this company, we have specialized in manufacturing custom optical components for the most demanding applications. Our facility is configured to allow flexibility in addressing our customers’ customized prism needs, from prototype units to large scale production. Our experienced engineers and manufacturing technicians have always evaluated the feasibility of each prism design, and can offer advice on how to reduce costs while optimizing the performance of the custom prism. Our ISO 9001:2008 certified engineering team and the whole production department can assist in your demand on high precision prisms.

Roof Prism

passing through the prism, the image is both deflected right-to-left and top-to-bottom. The hypotenuse of the prism utilizes total internal reflection to reflect the image.

Dove Prism

A beam of light entering one of the sloped faces of the prism undergoes total internal reflection from the inside of the longest face and emerges from the opposite sloped face.

Rhomboid Prism

Used to shift an incident beam without angular deviation or orientation change. They will displace the optical centerline by the prism length without inverting the image.

Wedge Prism

Its angle is no more than 10 degrees. When viewing a scene through such a prism, objects will appear to be offset by an amount that varies with their distance from the prism

Right Angle Prism

The total internal reflection (TIR) in the right angle prism with specific anti-reflection (AR) coatings on the two leg sides make themselves the perfect alternatives of 45 degree mirrors.

Penta Prism

Penta Prism(Pentagonal Prims) is a five-sided prism containing two reflecting surfaces at 45deg to each other, and two refracting faces perpendicular to the entering and emerging beams.

Anamorphic Prism

Glass material of N-BK7 (Schott) / H-K9L(CDGM),N-SF11 are typically used in production of anamorphic prisms. However, other materials are also available for some applications designated.

Pellin Broca Prism

These are constant deviation (90°) dispersing prisms. The input angle is arranged so that total internal reflection occurs. This will provide a constant 90° deflection for the beam with dispersion.
